The redevelopment of Velasquez Park was comissioned after the condition of the park has been left to disrepair. The design was kept simple and easy to maintain, and improved for the safety and security of the users.

Aside from being used as a place for recreation, the park is also currently being used on several weekends as an outdoor venue for weekend markets and artisan fairs.
